Dr. Kuruvilla completed his MBBS from Govt Medical College, Kottayam in 1988.
He completed his MS in General Surgery from SSG Govt Medical College, MS University of Baroda in 1994.
Trained and worked in the Digestive Diseases Center at Devamatha Hospital, Koothattukulam for 2 years.
Worked as a registrar at SSG Government Medical College, MS University of Baroda for one year.
Joined in 1995 and worked as a consultant surgeon at the Digestive Diseases Centre, PVS Memorial Hospital, Kaloor, Kochi until 2001.
Started the Institute of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases with Dr. N. Viswanath in 2001 at Mother Hospital, Thrissur.
Trained in colorectal laparoscopic surgery at Samsung Medical Institution, South Korea, in 2005.
Trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery at GEM Hospital, Coimbatore.
Conferred FAMS in 2016.
